Steel mesh reinforced ETICS (019)

The architects use an ETICS solution for the facade of this public library in Sant Gervasi. Formally the solution is very appropriate. The continuous coating offered by the mortar rendering allows defining a series of abstract volumes on which extend the garden of the Villa Florida. The neutrality of the new construction, either in the blind area of the facade as well as in the openings, guarantees the protagonism of the old building. Aware of the risk of applying an ETICS solution in a plinth building, directly in contact with the public space, the architects add a new reinforcement to the usual fiberglass mesh. The thermal insulation they use is covered on its both sides by steel meshes.(See case about the dematerialized steel curtain wall, of the same building)
