Lightweight marble-looking facade (071)

It is not possible to talk about facades without mentioning a very unique façade for the moment when it was built, and that even today continues being a reference.

The first point that draws our attention is the constructive system of own design, lightweight, based on a system of mullions (similar to a curtain wall). Despite the verticality imposed by the system, clearly visible from the outside elevation, the interior gives a fairly conventional image of blind parapet and horizontal windows. 

This building is contemporary to Carburos Metálicos, from B01 architects in Barcelona. Carburos was also a reference in a moment in which the blind façade tried to skip from massive solutions learning from the glass technologies, that had already given very interesting fruits in the work of Tous and Fargas few years before.

The second point is the very interesting solar protection mechanism. Unfortunately today the shutters have been disabled due to the lack of maintenance possibilities.
