Mind the gap (176)

Pay attention to how this elegant wooden curtain wall resolves the front of the slab, ensuring the appropriate fire sectorisation and minimizing the need of transoms. A simple wooden rib closes from the inside the gap between the pavement and the glass.

Pre-assembled stick curtain wall (175)

We love those examples that shake the taxonomical tool that organizes this website. In this occasion, the case does not question the order at the taxonomy but thins the rotundity of the lines between areas.

B720 architects propose a stick wooden curtain wall where mullions and transoms reach the building site already assembled in a big format component. We cannot say it is a unitized system, it is just a frame composed by complex profiles.
 

“Everything happens” (174)

Interesting and well resolved wooden stick curtain wall, mostly for the students of architecture consulting this website. In this curtain wall façade “everything happens”: we have a shading device anchored to the mullions; an exterior catwalk; a corner opening without mullion; a big offset from the concrete slab to the curtain wall starting; a watertight continuity situation with a brick parapet. Understand it all, you will learn a lot!!

Cross laminated logs (170)

An unusual solution in Mediterranean latitudes, to be considered at a time of a wood boom.

Like cross laminated timber panels, this system enables the construction of wooden wall structures. Some of these walls constitute the main facade layer.

An important difference between CLT panels and this system is in the format of the assembled elements. Cross laminated timber beams are smaller than panels and therefore lighter; they can easily be moved and hoisted without a crane.

Technical fabrics (100)

The building is very correct and discreet. The system was innovative at the time and in that place. Let us just mention something that, although obvious, always attracts our attention in this type of construction: the succession of technical fabrics that accompany an apparently simple construction. The issue is that building with brick has benefits that we are not aware of until we lose them: the material is inert, the mechanism of union between pieces guarantees the sealing of joints. Losing performance in the main façade layer means entrusting it to added elements.

In the middle (C.004)

The facade proposal carried out has been developed along with Martí Codorniu Miret. We both presented ourselves jointly to the competition with this unique participation.We are located in Cardedeu, right in the natural park of Belloch. There, it is proposed to carry out a Logistics Headquarters for TESLA, where we find a zone of assembly and storage of cars, a showroom, offices and the rest area of the workers.

COSTELLES/ RIBBONS (C.002)

The "Ribbons" project was created as a response to Poblenou and the people who are living in the neighborhood. Co-Housing is the idea that joins the intervention, social housing to strengthen community ties, avoiding thinking from the individuality of the buildings. The shape of the structure is a direct translation of pre-existing factories that fit with the complicated orientation of the Tupolev buildings that are on the seafront.The scale of the structure, on the other hand, responds more to the city than the houses it will take in.
